Gone for $34,600. Wow, that is cheap. I've seen used reys' selling for $60,000 plus with the 912S.

Yeah, I think somebody got a good deal. Rex lives on the Albemarle Sound--salty water--but kept it at a dry private airfield nearby and probably rinsed it off well.

That's close to what I paid for mine. Had about double in it before I got through screwing it up and correcting orginal errors. Buyer beware. Next time I'll get a second set of expert eyes...or just build it from scratch.

I saw this Searey when he brought it back to Michigan, he wanted me to give him some duel time in it...I looked it over and gave him a list of things he'd have to do to get it flight worthy or at least before I would fly it. I found out he didn't have a pilots license.... He found some other guy to get him airborne. They came real close to wrecking it at least one time that I'm aware of, one of the wing tips is ground down a little. Despite any of that it is a good buy for that price.

Lets face reality. Most of us spent much more on our 'Reys than what we'd ever recover if we sell. But what the heck, it's only money, right?

Best money I ever spent with the possible exception of tuition.

My entire career I preached controlling cost, schedule, scope and weight. I
blew all four with my build.

Cost was not even close.

To save weight, recommend building faster--gives you less time to think up
lots of little good ideas which in total, add up to overweight.

And, Dennis S., I suspect that if you ever build from scratch, saving money
will not be in your future.

Having said this, if I had to do it all over again, I'd do it all over again.

Unless I go back to actually working for a paycheck (not if I can help it but the market has other ideas), this might be the last Searey I can afford. It's amazing how careful I am now that my monthly spending allowance has been reduced. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. The more hours I have in my Searey, the more I like it.
