I let the Russian know I was interested in the seaplanes and he sent back the links below. This is a very interesting design. The pictures are very good and very clear. Sorry Dave, still no girls.

Giving you a bit of insight into that plane you are interested in. There is a bunch of other planes as well.
Russian built amphibian L-42 powered by two Rotax 912 . Made in
Samara. Certified.

I could not find references in English so far but I will keep looking.
Too lazy to translate tonight.

Excellent pictures are posted here please do not pay attention to some
pics there are some local humor and sign language. Rated PG-13. The finger
is addressed to bureacrats slowing GA legislature.

http://www.reaa.ru/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1204048783/0

http://www.reaa.ru/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1223661355

http://www.reaa.ru/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1183299909

Take a beverage and enjoy,
Vlad
__________________
Vlad
RV-9A FWF
N666BK

Beautiful boat! Novel access from the steps behind the wing. Good thing they have a safety hatch but I still would not want to be inverted in that thing!

Interesting photos, Robert! It's also interesting that the blue amphibian twin has been flying with no marking at all. In fact, the only writing I could find outside the instrument panel is 'Airmaster' on the props.

Here are a few more markings, Professor. It would be nice to find out more about this bird!

Well, one thing we can tell is that letters in Russian registration numbers must be in the roman alphabet and that the number itself can begin with zero. This one is RA 0335G. I can't make out the other writing--but it sure has a lot of heavy-duty flap hinges. I wonder who D.B. is, who dated the photo 2007?

I think that's a photo of the L-6, which looks like the big brother to the L-42

Very cool plane. Not a big fan of the Vtail. Is it a 4 seater?

Robert,
Thanks for posting this. The airmaster prop guy showed me some pictures of this at OSH this year but I was never able to find anything else about it.

That is a hansom airplane and that triangular tail looks 'strong like bull'. There is one picture of two guys on top of the plane in the water that says a lot about buoyancy and weight. It's riding quite high, even with a guy at the tail, it's still well out of the water. Looks like a D hull - very sharp V in the front for really big waves. I'd love to see one up close.

Don't now if you noticed, there were what looked like non-skid strips all the way down the aft fuselage. So it looks like you can exit that rear hatch and walt to the tail for inspection.

Or so you can walk on or off when the tail is beached.

That's actually one cool aircraft. I bet you could camp out in the back! But yes, I know: The canopy's a death trap. I'd like to see the specs on this.

Hi All:

Note the full-feathered props in 'Dave's girl' picture. I have been talking to Air Master and they have a reversing prop in the works. Not cheap but...... it sure would be neat to be able to back up in certain circumstances.

Larry

Plus the airmaster uses warp drive blades so that you can get the nickel leading edge, it's the best on the market for a rotax engine.

Guys,
The airmasters are great but you can also get the same ability for less money from warp drive themselves. Just get the in flight adjustable set up. Pitch for take-off than fine tune it for cruise. Fixed pitch propellors are like driving your car around in the same gear all the time. You can also dial the warp drive one all the way to feather to reduce drag in an engine out situation. This is the prop I plan on getting when I build my next plane.

Larry, can you get some information on the L-42 through your connections?
