Need an electric tail wheel dolly. I now find myself sharing a hanger with a Thorp T18 and there is only room to stack park.Although we have a concrete floor, outside is sloping grass apron. This makes it VERY difficult to move in/out the other a/c for both of us.We have looked online and although there are powered dollys for specific a/c, there appears to be nothing for tail wheels, especially at a reasonable price.Anyone know where to go?

the kind that old people use to get around in. one wheel in front
a seat and two wheels in
back with an electric motor and its rechargeable. all we have to
do is build a hitch assembly to put your tail wheel into.

the aerocart type things are a couple of grand.

More info Troy, if possible, please.
can you describe the 'scooter'

    Hi Jim,

I have one of these: http://aerokarts.com/ and have been using it on my Citabria taildragger for a couple of years now. I have quite an uphill into my hangar which gets quite snowy and icy in winter and is grassy/ sandy in summer. It has worked flawlessly and is easily adjustable to various aircraft. The standard model is excellent, you don't need the extra adjustability of the vertically adjustable model. It has a built in high tech charger and twist grip throttle for smooth starts which is great for maneuvering in tight spaces. The quick disconnect controlled from the handlebars is really slick.

Thanks Grant, $$$$ I am trying to avoid if possible. We have TWO a/c, one with Maule t/w, one with ?Rans t/w, so would need to be changing all the time. Maybe a solution to that.

    Thanks for replies.
We did not want to spend $$$$$$$ and we could not find a scooter or similar, so we have decided as interim to bolt an electric boat trailer winch on the floor to pull the a/c back into the hanger, That will suffice until we find a scooter or similar.
winch brand new $50 eBay.

yup, even a lawn tractor. good luck.

Jim Moline - Nov 08,2011 Viewers | Reply
Yup, lawn tractor, golf cart, mobility scooter etc. and the good thing is there are plenty second hand on eBay. I have broadened my search and thanks to replies look like finding one for about half the price of a 'Dragger/AeroKart', which can be used for other purposes as well.
