You've probably seen videos of multicopters, those little 4- / 6- / 8-rotor electric-powered UAVs that can carry a small camera. Well, check out this 16-rotor whopper that can carry a whole man: http://www.e-volo.com/Home.html

http://www.kkmulticopter.com/ (Be sure to watch the lower of the two big videos on this page. It's very dashing, and there's a splash at the end that qualifies this post for Splash & Dash.)

Another cool thing on this page is the rotating globe, with your current location indicated as the globe turns. At least, that's what I see: 'Hopewell, Virginia.'

I saw a NASA guy demonstrating one of the little four-rotor UAVs at a fly-in last spring. He used an iPhone to control it via wi-fi. It had two cameras, one pointing straight down and the other horizontal. The 'down' cam doubled as the reference to enable the UAV to hover in place autonomously, even in a 10 knot breeze. You could see the view from each cam on the iPhone. Very cool!

I really enjoyed the video of the guy with the video monitor glasses flying through the
warehouse.
I wonder what a setup like that costs?

The NASA guy said his cost about $300.
