The cubs on floats I used to get my rating had a mooring/docking rope attached to the front of the floats. One could nose the plane to the dock and climb off the floats onto the dock.

What do ya do with a SeaRey when you want to approach a dock?

Actually, Bret, I'm working on a docking method that really might work--will try version 2 later this week and let you know.

I frequently find the need to dock to visit friends and pick up / drop off passengers. If there is a square corner available with no obstructions and if it can be done in light wind or into the wind it isn't too much trouble. It helps to have a passenger on board to paddle. One paddle on each side of the cockpit is standard equipment in OliverII. It is also nice to have a person on the dock to catch a wing. I always have one or the other - a passenger to paddle or a person on the dock to catch a wing. Both is better.

I pull straight up toward the corner of the dock and then turn off the engine about 30 feet out and coast / paddle as necessary.

If the wind isn't cooperative, I just don't do it.
