It may take a long time yet but more engines will be vailable eventually. Is this interesting? http://www.dieselthrust.de/index.htm

Indeed a very interesting project! Too heavy for a Searey (55lbs heavier than 912S) but would be interesting for a LSA cross country airplane built to handle a heavier engine. 165 mph on 2.5 gallons per hour with no ignition system. I like it.

I thought it said 25lbs heavier than a 912S, probably still not ready for it though. I'm a little surprised no one has done anything with the VW Touareg diesel, Can't find out what it weighs but it puts out 310hp and 550 ft.lbs of torque from an all aluminim V10 with twin turbos. (not for Searey, of course.) It is 5 litres, with all the torque in a lower range than a gas engine might easily replace a 250 or 200 hp engine.
