P. C. Russell died Tuesday night at a hospital here in central Florida following a brief illness. His last flying dream was to soar and splash with his wife in his SeaRey. The SeaRey now sits almost ready for flight in his hangar at Love’s Landing. P.C.’s son has asked Paige Lynnette to get the airplane inspected. The son wants to take his mother (who is also in the hospital now) flying when P.C.’s ‘Rey is ready.

With P.C.’s passing go some great seaplane stories. My personal favorite was of ocean landings at night in a PBY to deliver CIA types to Cuba (or taxiing for many miles across the Gulf of Mexico due to a dead engine). There aren’t many left that lived to tell these tales. P.C. will be missed for this and all the other reasons that die with a good man.

Dan, that is sad. At least PC had dreams and lived them. There is not much more one can ask. I hope his son gets his wish...

I remember meeting him at Gator Joes a few years back... he seemd excited to 'hang' with the cat herders and yes, he did have some great stories..... How about a funeral 'fly-over' of seareys, or are we too late.

The family wanted a small, quiet funeral, Bob, but it's not too late for the living to get a SeaRey show of respect. When P.C.'s wife gets out of the hospital, let's fly over with some flowers. I'm guessing a gang of five or ten SeaReys dropping off flowers at P.C.'s hangar would be appreciated.

Paige Lynnette is in contact with the family, Ken. I'll make sure he lets us know when the time is right.

Dan, thanks for letting us know. That is very sad news. PC did come over and look at the Fly N Fish one afternoon. He was a very pleasant person and very excited about his Searey. I saw him last spring at a fly in where I think he arrived in a Piper Cub. Please put me on the email list for participation in showing our appreciation of PC as I just returned from sea.
