When I did this stunt for the movie -video about five years ago, I was'nt aware what was going to happen to my Searey until I saw the finished product. When we needed smoke to come from the airplane the stunt people had this device which attached to the exhaust, I did,nt think that is what the director was looking for when it produced a nice spiral smoke effect because of the pusher prop. That took two days of finding something else that would work. While we where having a break in the pilot lounge I noticed one of the old type fire extighser with the bing horn. It was well outdated but that worked just great by getting my instructor to hold it facing down out the window. After some almost frost bitten fingers the director finally had his smoke the way he wanted it, something should have clicked then what the outcome was going to be. It was not going to be some super human pilot skills that you could only do in a Searey by landing on the water, taxi onto the beach and splash out the fire. The director had other ideas.
