Storage capacity on Splash and Dash is currently limited to 5120 MB. We are approaching that limit. About 15% of the site capacity is consumed by large files. To maximize use of available capacity, the site administrators are requesting that posters consider reducing the size of large videos and photos.<br /> <br />Large videos often use a lot of the capacity. It is requested that videos be limited in size to 10 MB. Larger videos can be posted on other sites like YouTube with links.<br /> <br />We also encourage members to use Windows Movie Maker (which comes with all Windows installations) or some similar app to reduce the size of videos. The resolution suffers somewhat, but it's usually not a problem for brief videos. YouTube compresses longer ones, but manages to keep most looking reasonably good.<br /> <br />Large photos should also be reduced in size. We request that photo size be limited to 2 MB or less.<br /> <br />It may become necessary for the Administrators to delete some of the larger files to maintain site capacity for new postings. If so, we'll delete the larger files by age first. The first action, if possible, will be to reduce the file size.<br /> <br />If you have questions about reducing the size of video or photos, let us know.<br /> <br />SnD Administrators, Dan, Don, Judy

Is there an easy way for a member to identify any large files he has posted? Obviously, on the 'file cabinet', it's easy to see - I think someone has the record at 150 Mb for one file. It's the news and pictures that may be more difficult to sort.

To see a listing of files by size, Ken, all you need to do is click on 'Utilities' then select 'View Site Statistics'. There will be a list of files sorted by size there.

Dan, <br />Maybe this only works for admins???<br /><br />When I click on 'utilities' I don't get the option to view site statistics.

Tony is right. Perhaps an admin could do a screen print of the 'top over gross' postings?

And, for the record, I just went through and reduced the size of my extreme photo files (being one of the prime offenders, as you forced me to make clear, Ken!). It saved 32 MB.
