Phil Mendelson was nice enough to give me a ride in his Searey and now I want one. He also told me not to go look at the new ones but I didn't listen. I am now pretty sure I want to build one and would like to know what current owners would do differently if they could do it over. If you were building a new Searey, what options would you choose?     Terry - the problem is, the answers to your question would place this thread onto the technical site, where non-owners can't see it. E-mail me back-channel and I'll give you a short list. Suffice it to say, the new model has incorporated many of the changes suggested by the very involved user community over the years. I'm sure Phil can give you what you are looking for also - he's very familiar with the changes over the years. -Ken KNSLeonard@yahoo.com

Without getting technical, Terry, I'll say that I wouldn't do anything different in building my 2001-vintage kit, other than incorporating the factory-developed upgrades that come with a new kit and installing a glass panel instead of steam gauges. The standard SeaRey is a great kitplane, right out of the box.
