A TV news report from Buffalo covered a 'strange' aircraft landing in Lake Erie. 'Seconds' later the CBP responds. Turns out it was a SeaRey on a Coast Guard training mission. On April 1? Really?

Yup, it was Kevin D Angelo. he told me yesterday they had nothing better to do other than check him out. I'll get the scoop today, we have a boat being shipped there and Martha and I are leaving to pick it up. Hey, that's a beautiful looking take-off, must be that 914 power!<br />You have to read the comments at the bottom of the page from the viewers, too funny!

Looks like they took the video off the site. Shows how news gets twisted- I mentioned to the Border patrol that I was coast Guard Auxilliary and then the media thought I was on a training mission. I was just splashing and dashing along the waaterfront. This was after the border patrol helicopter hovered 2 feet off the water infront of my plane so i couldn't take off. I thought mentioning my affliation would smooth things over but instead caused a lot of misinformation. When I saw the erroneous news i returned and took the reporters for a ride and some filming to clarify that it was just for fun.

Glad it turned out OK Kevin - wonder what the border patrol would have done had the helicopter downwash sunk or damaged your plane. I'm sure it would have been your fault.
