Factory Splash In

It's not a Notam, it's a Noter ('Notice to SeaReyers'). Information developed for PA's Open House is attached (Word and PDF versions). There's nothing official about it, so use it at your own risk. Caution: representatives from the FAA Flight Safety District Office, Manufacturing Inspection District Office, various politicians, local government officials, TV news, and two newspapers will be present. The FAA is probably a lot more tolerant than the politicians and news guys. It's a great opportunity to show how professional SeaRey pilots can be. Attachments:

The official Noter that went out in the factory newsletter included this obvious addition: 'We believe the information to be accurate, but of course, as pilot in command you are ultimately responsible to verify that all information is correct and appropriate for your specific flight into the area.'

It's always bad news when you're told 'the tower called' after landing. Well, Leesburg tower did call, but it had nothing to do with my departure. It had to do with the Noter. It has the wrong frequency. The correct tower frequency is 119.35 (not 119.75 as printed). So, that's the bad news: check your frequency if you are going to contact Leesburg tower.

I can confirm 119.35 and they even say 'Welcome to
Leesburg'! And, the ATIS is working.

I tried to get someone to come up with a call sign for PA's fly-in tomorrow morning but no one wanted to hang their hat on it so I guess I'll just call it the factory for you guys flying in tomorrow morning. I plan on leaving Garner's Landing around 7:30am so I should be up at the factory around 8:30 with my handheld tuned to 123.375. I have flown into Lake Idamere before and it is not a big lake. I would plan on spacing yourselves out so we don't have more than two planes on the water at time. Try keeping the chatter down on 123.375 until you need to coordinate positions between planes. It might be a good idea to pick up a position number in the flight as a call sign 'SeaRey One' 'SeaRey Two' ect... I haven't been up the ramp yet but Darrell says that it's working out ok 'We'll see'. Check your landing gears and make sure all the stuff is working before you try to drive up the ramp. If you think you have a problem let me know before you try to drive out, I can give it a quick look see. There should be a place to beach for a short time to check the gear. The winds have been from the east at my place so if we have any wind we'll be landing to the east. If the winds are light enough we can land to the west on to the lake, that way you can step taxi to the ramp if you like, so lets plan on the west landing. Remember your the pilot in command so if you don't like the direction broadcast your intention on the radio. After you land move to the south side of the lake to slow taxi to the ramp on 123.375. After your up the ramp go to 123.45 for taxi and parking. If we have a problem on the ramp I'll let you know if we need to use Little Lake Harris. If we do need to use it follow the Noters. My cell phone will be on and the number is 813 559-3216 if you're sitting on a lake with other planes pick someone to call me for updates on the ramp and lake conditions. If the ramp or lake is closed and it opens back up again pick up position numbers and start heading in to Lake Idamere. Air Boss Russ Garner
