Bob Loosemore from Bonner's Ferry, Idaho wanted a Tahoe Tour, so I met him halfway of the 600 mile and 8 hour flight at the Owyhee Reservoir State airport (28U), which is one of my favorite backcountry camping spots that are Searey suitable. Owyhee information at the weblink.

A flat spot near the windsock, fire pit and close by to the port-a-potty made a comfortable campsite.

For those who want a roof over their head, the 'Owyhee Hilton' has chairs, pots and pans, fishing poles and other supplies provided by backcountry pilots.

The next morning we took off for Tahoe with a route along the Black Rock Desert over some smooth playa.

Here Bob is flying along Pyramid Lake, which is connected to Lake Tahoe via the Truckee River.

The following day Bob got his Tahoe Tour with a stop at Secret Beach.

Jim Whiteley and I escorted Bob out of town with a stop at the playa at Blue Wing Flats dry lake bed. Even lakes with no water can be fun!

Attachments:

Thanks, John. And it's good to know we can vacation in Hawaii without having to cross all that water.

12 knot tailwind for me flying north, but headwind for Bob on the first day. Calm winds at the Owyhee. Second day was light a variable all the way! Hardly a bump anywhere. I use http://aviationweather.gov/adds/ for wind forecasts.
