Well, we finally finished our LSX and it passed inspection! Now my wife, Penny, and I can really tell everyone that we are out 'flying the flag'. The attached .pdf is before the inspection and we had not yet removed to protective coverings on the Lexan. Now I just need someone to teach me how to safely fly this baby!

Marshall Lounsberry, Col, USAF (Ret) Attachments:

    Beautiful job, looks terrific.

One cautionary note that applied to at least my classic SeaRey: it is never 'finally
done'. Three years after first flight there's still stuff to improve, delete, add, fix, etc.

Congrats! Looks terrific. What is your empty weight?

Marshall Lounsberry - Dec 29,2010 Viewers | Reply
Tom--the weight was a little more than I wanted but we didn't add to the kit. The new LSX kit has some really strong improvements that add some weight. The wings and tail improvements account for most of it. Our empty weight was 1019lbs. I guess I will have to lay off the McBurgers.

Marshall

What paint did you use,its so glossy.

Marshall Lounsberry - Dec 29,2010 Viewers | Reply
The paint is Serwin Williams Accu Glo aircraft paint. The gloss is lots of careful time with 2000 grit wet sanding and an artful buffer with a super fine 3M buffing compound.

I want you to paint mine if and when I get there.

Marshall Lounsberry - Dec 30,2010 Viewers | Reply
    Thomas,

Thanks for the compliment but I didn't shoot the paint. My wife and I did the design and layout. The painting wizard Jim Rattie did the painting. I simply sanded where he told me to.
