I've been trying to set up a website for my business and I think it looks fairly presentable. It is
very basic right now with not a whole lot of detail, but check it out if you wish. Also let me know
how it looks on your computers as I did this on my MacBook Pro. Hopefully it looks the same on
your PC's and note books? I appreciate constructive criticism but at the same time realize there is
much much more to be added. Enjoy

http://www.florida-seaplanes.macwebsitebuilder.com

When I opened your link, the 1st picture covered up your 1st paragraph. I would come up with a better company name and web address like SouthEastAmphibs.com. You should get rid of the paragraph titles.

Great start to your website. I had the same issue that Bowden did, the first picture covers up the paragraph on the home page. I am using Windows Explore. Looking foward to some great additions to you website in the future.

Arrrgh! Daniel, that's Microsoft, trying to sabotage other companies' browsers. They've been doing that intentionally since around 1990. It's yet another good reason to shun them. The others use international, open standards for web pages and email; not Microsoft. Unfortunately, it's the elephant in the room, so you have to accommodate it, or risk losing lots of potential customers. But with a little effort you can accommodate all browsers.

For another example of Microsoft's (nefarious) power, look at the formatting of your text at the top of this thread. Those strange line breaks are because MyFamily's server is set up the way Microsoft likes it, rather than the international standards that Apple adheres to. So when Apple sends a soft return, the server interprets it as a hard return, and the result is the odd line breaks.

Bruno-thanks for the visual. Ill try my best to do some trial and error so it works for both.
Thanks for the explanation, Don! I never knew about any of that! All I can say is, I love this
Mac...it makes things so easy.

On the other hand, Daniel, I'm writing this on a Macbook, but using Firefox instead of Safari, and there are none of those odd line beaks. Firefox plays both sides, I guess, and manages to keep both manufacturers happy.

TEST (from iPhone). Daniel entered: Bruno-thanks for the visual. Ill try my best to do some trial and error so it works for both. Thanks for the explanation, Don! I never knew about any of that! All I can say is, I love this Mac...it makes things so easy.
Okay, in Firefox on Macbook now: 1. Edit
2. Check Advanced (allow HTMlL)
3. Click Save...

4. Edit again. Crap. No HTML tags visible.
5. Never mind.
NO, WAIT! Now the odd line breaks in Daniel's message are gone. In the source for this page they're indicated by [lessthan] Br [space] / [greaterthan], a tag format I hadn't seen before.
Oh, well, wait again. I think when I did the HTML edit, those tags just didn't get inserted. Right here
I'll try adding that tag manually and see what happens.
Yeah, that put the break in. But I don't understand where the / came from. Normally it's used to close a command, such as to end bold or italics. If anyone's curious, you can italicize by doing HTML edit and then bracket the italicized text with [lessthan] i (or I) [greaterthan] to begin italics and [lessthan] /i (or /I) [greaterthan] to end them. But then all normal blank lines go away, so you have to enter [lessthan] p (or P) [greaterthan] to force a new paragraph.

If you put the image into a table row it will work with both browsers.

Like this:

The only thing added to your original HTML is the
at the beginning and the
at the end, I also added the
.
That is the quick and dirty to fix it up.
