I put my deposit down on an LSX kit today, for delivery in September. I've been lusting after one for the last 15 years and the time is finally right. Are there any other owners in the Salt Lake City area? I haven't noticed any. Any essential advice to get ready to build? I will be selling my car and clearing out the garage. Hopefully the excitement doesn't burn me out before the kit is even delivered!

Glen G.

Congratulations Glen! It has been several years since you joined the group and shared your dream. Get ready for a great experience, and join the technical site for all the answers to your forthcoming questions.

Jon; how would I steer myself to the technical site you mentioned? I will also be starting to build soon. I'm looking forward to the build and the flying. I love to do both. Mark

You guys can get onto STS as soon as you can show that you own a SeaRey or a SeaRey kit.

After you put down a deposit PA should provide you with a serial number for your kit. If you post that here one of the administrators will send an invitation to the tech site.

Better, email it to one of the administrators.

Glen, you will find as Jon indicates, that the STS folk are an invaluable resource.
Congratulations.

I'm jealous, I too have been lusting after one for the last 15 years, hopefully this will be the year for me too. Good luck.

Glen; I too put down a deposit on Feb 15th. I've been waiting too long for this to come about. I'm very excited. I scheduled delivery for December. I'm also like you in that I'm in the other-than-Florida crowd. I live in Dallas and don't believe there are many around here. Lots of lakes though. Good luck on yours.

    Mark,

I believe there are a couple of SeaRey's at Pecan Plantation, near you and there are a couple at Polly Ranch in Houston, one in Austin and a couple in between . . .

Congratulations to all the new builders. As soon as I learned the LSX was coming out with the folding wing option I told my wife I was changing directions from ultralights to the Searey. My order was placed in November and I'll start building in April. I plan to stay in Tavares until it's ready to fly then trailer it back to Michigan.

It's taking 8 months to get a kit out of PA? Man they need to get on the ball over there. It took me about 6 months back in 97 get my kit but that's because they spent more time at lunch and flying around then they did in the shop. Maybe things haven't change that much Kerry just flew over the house. LOL

Russ, you should fly over to PA's new plant, they have come a loooooong way.....

Whoa! No it's not taking that long to get a kit. I put a deposit on a kit Feb 14th and they offered to deliver in April but I have deferrred until June. My guess is everyone else has put off delivery also. Anyway they are doing well, as of Feb 14th they said they have sold 12 kits since the Sebring show, a company record! Sounds like they have sold at least two more since then. Congrats to PA for creating a great airplane and creating strong interest in such a slow economy.

Chris D., was that a valentine present to yourself?

Chris Durbin - Feb 20,2011 Viewers | Reply
Actually my other airplane only has one seat, so the Searey became an 'us' Valentine's Day present. Yes I am a lucky guy, my wife loves flying as much as I do.

I've been up there a few times Phil to have lunch with Kerry and the crew. I was helping out at the big opening day party last year as flight director but everyone was doing fine on that small lake. I know there doing better and the shop looks great but Kerry and his family are still loyal to their old friends and likes to get out of there for lunch when they have time, I hope that never changes.

Yes, I could have got it much earlier, but not being in Florida, or having a heated garage, I figured this would give me a chance to do what I can to get started indoors in the winter and move out to the garage when it warms up. Among other considerations. Speaking of winter, has anyone tried putting a Searey on skis?

Glen G.
