A friend took me for a SeaRey ride in which we did several splash-and-goes on one of the Great Lakes and visited a windfarm: http://youtu.be/LIViIcJ3k8A

The total height including blades is 150 meters, exactamente. That's just over 492 feet AGL. Here's a table:
<!-- >'">
' or > missing in user HTML. Nice video but I wish the guy singing could clear his throat and get to singing

It's Tuvan throat singing, Matt. They hold a note and change the shape of the mouth to produce an overtone--two different notes at the same time! And they can vary the pitch of both notes, individually or simultaneously. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY1pcEtHI_w

Also, it reminded me of an AC hum, as you get from power lines.

It sounds weird and a bit unnerving--but, then, flying among those slow-turning blades is a bit unnerving, too. It's almost as if they're reaching out to smack you.

The camera was set to its widest angle, about like 28 mm on a film camera (where 55 mm is 'normal'), so everything looks smaller and farther away than it actually was. Those are BIG towers and long blades!

If you're curious about these wind turbines, here are the specs: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd
=4&cad=rja&ved=0CDEQFjAD&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.southkentwind.
com%2Fproject_documents%2F09_South_Kent_Wind_Turbine_Specifi
cation_Report.pdf&ei=FWVBUPmjEIye8gS_zoGgBg&usg=AFQjCNEJaCbW
nff0pep3H51TJexTvE1OFA&sig2=q9DTxCpUlywep32ao--_Hg

Here are 2 pics of a line of wind generators along the highest Appalachian ridge line just SE of Pittsburgh. I overflew them on the way to/from Oshkosh. Attachments:
