came across this in one of the aviation newsletters I get. A German single engine amphibian going after the SLA amphibian - The Dornier S-Ray 007 is based on the successful Dornier flying boats (Libelle from 1921 by Claude Dornier) and has been modernized as an amphibian multi-purpose aircraft to handle the land and the sea.

has Rotax 912 and the wing swings 90' to fit onto a trailer. Attachments:

It looks like a cross between an A-24 and an Ikon. And the name S-Ray 007 belongs on James Bond's SeaRey.

I love Dornier and Dornier based aircraft. My neighbor may
upgrade to the S-Ray from his
SeaRey.

Dornier had this plane at Oshkosh a few years ago. Don't know if it ever was in production, though.

The group of us who inspected the aircraft at Oshkosh reached a concensus:
'FUGLY'

Note the 1760 lb. gross weight. Like Icon, a LSA exception would be needed. Kerry once told me that an all composite, cantilevered wing is prohibitively heavy for a standard 1430 lb. LSA.

If I recall, the price of the Dornier was in the 200k range. An all composite wing is possible but would
probably need to be carbon fiber to meet LSA and would be very expensive.
