Came across this on Youtube. Lake Boga fly in 2012. A few Seareys flying around down under. Anyone we know? I especially like the quiet exhaust at the 1:00 mark.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=9HA4CMyXzEE&feature=ends
creen

Hi Paul, yes I remember it well, it was a fantastic weekend.
In World War II the lake was a secret location for the
servicing of Australia's flying boat fleet. It was regarded
as a safe from enemy bombers due to its remote location.
In 2009 Lake Boga was completely dry, due to drought. And
now to due to flood it’s overflowing. (Australia a land of
drought and flooding rains) that’s from a Pome by Dorothea
Mackellar. I’m in the SeaRey VH-XWW. I will Post Photos
from the weekend.

Lake Boga is a very important Oz WW11 icon.
It is a reasonably sized inland lake, circular in shape to make it 'all weather/all winds' flying boat base.
There are far better qualified people to talk about it, but briefly, it was chosen for a large contingent of our 'Black Cats' during the war as it was 'unknown' to the enemy, far from our settled coastal strips and an unexpected location for security reasons.
I will look up and post further info, however I'm sure several Oz identities will expound on some of the history.
some of our SeaRey owners were directly associated with the 'Black Cats'
