Hello everyone, Skip, Tom and I decided to try the new restaurant on the South shore of Lake Weir today. There is plenty of room for several planes and the food was awesome. They were very happy we stopped in and they said to bring more planes next time. So if you are looking for a new place to fly to try the Eaton's Beach Sandbar & Grill. Attachments:

Charles, Great idea, thanks, you 'northerners' have all the lakes with all the
restaurants!

Image #859 suggests 'The Blues Are In'

You are right about that, Frank. Thankfully, most of the lakes are within our flight range…
Just say the word...

Went there this weekend....a nice looking restaurant. 3 stories high with a nice beach. We sat in the bottom floor part and discovered that the food offered is limited, you need to pay in advance, and the service was poor. Maybe we should have gone upstairs, but wanted to keep close to the plane, and it was nice outside on the lower deck.

Bottom line, probably won't go back... maybe someone can let us know about the service and food on the upper stories...
Hey Bob, I am sorry to hear you had a poor experience when you went there over the
weekend. The three of us (tom, Skip and I) sat on the upper floor and had awesome
service, plenty of choices on the menu and did not have to pay in advance for our meals.
We sat on the edge of the upper floor and had a great view of the planes while we ate
lunch. The management was happy we flew in and I have a friend with a R22 and he has
permission to land on the concert dock from the owner next time. The bottom floor was
not open for us, they said they mainly open that up during the summer time. If the weather
is good on Friday afternoon, I am planning on taking Fran there for a late lunch so she can
experience it. I hope you give it another try and not let the experience keep you from
going there.

I believe based on the map, that is the lake. Here is the info on the lake to look at as well.

http://www.airnav.com/airport/24FA

Took Fran to the restaurant for a late lunch along with Skip and took a few pictures while we were there. My friend Jeff came over with his R22 and landed on the concrete dock. Once again nice lunch.

Bill, I talked with the waitress and she told be the bottom floor has limited menu and it is more a bar atmosphere instead of a restaurant. So I hope you will try it again and sit up stairs. Attachments:

Bummer! I thought I had discovered a new place. I was there on 12/8....wasn't even looking for it - just flying overhead and figured it would be cool. It was.

You FLA guys are way too spoiled: It's a beach bar....that you fly your seaplane to. I'd be happy with a bowl of cold gruel.

Here is a cool video of a R22 landing on a small dock out in front of the restaurant that was taken today. We had 5 Seareys and the R22. What a great day for flying.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHih-eNzdmU

    Very nifty!

Good job you made that look easy. That dock is in good enough shape to hold that weight of the R22 I guess.
