September 5. <br /><br />Well, we weren't happy with the search function anyway, so now we have an opportunity to find someplace better.<br /><br />Here's some of what they say about it:<br /><br />======================<br /><br />...you will be able to export most group content from your active group site. To safely and securely download your data, please log in to your MyFamily group site and request an export by clicking on the orange “Export Now” button located at the top of the page. Once the export has been requested, our export tool will create an electronic package of your content and email you a link that can be used to download the files to your personal computer. <br /><br />----------------<br /><br />Content will be exported into .zip folders which contain files appropriate for the given content. For example, photos will be exported as .jpeg files and videos will be exported in the file format used to upload them.<br /><br />----------------<br /><br />We encourage you to visit other relevant websites that provide one or more of the features that MyFamily.com offered. Sites for you to consider include: <br /><br /> ThisLife by Shutterfly<br /> Carousel by Dropbox<br /> Chatbooks<br /><br />=================<br /><br />We have three months to find a new home.<br /><br />It looks like exporting will get us one huge zip file. (I wonder about that, given the amount of STA data.) We have three months to figure out what that's going to be like and how useful it will be to us--whether we can import it into our new site.<br /><br />It would be great if the current administrators will just find us a new home and transfer all the data to it, but that's hardly fair. So let's divide the labor a bit. <br /><br />First we need to scout around and find the best new home. Then we can worry about exporting our data. (Someone here probably should try a test export right away, but it doesn't look like each of us needs to do that.)

I've requested an export file for Splash & Dash, to see how it will go. MyFamily says:<br /><br />'We are now preparing your site content for export, you will be emailed at the email address provided when your site export file is ready for download. If you belong to more than one group, you will receive an email when the content for each group is ready for export. This process may take up to 48 hours, so please be patient'

If you're interested in exporting your own personal copy of... whatever MyFamily is going to let us download, I think this link might work: <a href="http://export.myfamily.com/notification.aspx">http://export.myfamily.com/notification.aspx</a><br /><br />It was in the initial message when I logged in this morning, but I don't see the 'orange button' that their FAQ page mentions.<br /><br />It may work for all of the MyFamily sites you belong to--but I'm not at all sure of that. <br /><br />
