Seaplane Friends, Saturday July 23 is the best day for this year's splash-in on the James River, and we hope you can come! .
WHERE? Google "jordan point va". It's near Richmond, in the broad James River, 5 miles east of Hopewell VA, 12 miles south of KRIC, 5 miles out on the 260 degree radial of the HPW VOR. Or use these GPS coordinates:

TIME & TIDE: High tide will be at 12:12 PM, so the water should be plenty deep enough for everyone from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM*. (It's fresh water all the way downstream to below Jamestown Island, where the salt water fishing license begins. The tide goes up to the fall line, at Richmond.)
Lunch around noon.
RADIO: 123.45 Call "Taj Mahouse" or "Maxwell" when you get close and we'll guide you to the beach or up onto the lawn.
FUEL: No AVGAS, sorry. But there's a high-volume Exxon station 1.5 miles south, and we have 5-gallon cans and a crew car. The Exxon and the marina on our point also have 89 octane gas with no ethanol.
We'll send out reminders around Memorial Day and the end of June.
If you missed last year's splash-in, here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/ux2u6nFK4s4.
RAIN DATE: Sunday, July 24.
A NOTE ON TIDES AND DATES: 2022 is an unusual year for tides here: There are only two weekends in the warm months with high tide near noon, and both are neap tides. Saturday July 23 is a slightly better tide-day than the 9th.
We're always delighted whenever someone splashes in here. Almost any time of day works, even if the tide is very low. Just give us a heads-up at 804-543-7110 beforehand, to be sure we'll be home.
If you need to RON, no prob.
