When I was in New Zealand late last year, Paul Vickers gave me a tour of his facilities. The plant in Hamilton is high-tech and very impressive. I also looked over his prototype (minus the engine). It is not the "Wave" of 10 years ago. It is a much more refined and well-conceived seaplane. Best of all, Paul has committed investors and a plausible plan for making the airplane affordable. This is not a repeat of the Icon fiasco.

Wow - at first look, I thought this was the vapor-plane from some salesman that worked at PA. Complete with deck chair
and outboard motor and custom tent.

Did I mention it has a sliding canopy?

You didn't. But what a great idea!

Two things from their website in particular caught my attention - they are going with a Lycoming IO-360 and NOT a Rotax (will wonders never cease), and a "Cross-Overâ„¢ unique landing gear that does not need to be retracted." I would love to know more about that.

That information is dated, Mark. They currently have a Rotax 915iS ready to install in
the prototype. It is now their engine of choice. They have reconsidered the gear and
now plan on a more conventional retractable system. They are currently evaluating
gear warning systems.

Then they should update their website so people like me don't look like idiots spreading false info, I would say.

Seems to be a common problem with many websites, and frankly I don't understand it.

Well, I would propose that it's not you that look bad, Mark, since you are simply reporting the
information that they publish. Adding to Ken's point, we all know that what an airplane company
says and does are often significantly different. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if what I saw or
was told isn't subsequently bent, folded or mutilated by what an airplane company, no matter how
good, does at some later time.

Probably because they build airplanes, not websites and everything else is tertiary.
