Sorry, not a single splash in this video, just a landing and a takeoff on a fairly narrow runway that didn't look right on final approach. (And a grandkid on the field.)      Attachments:

Great video as usual. Looks like that new engine is working just fine!

Yep, it runs just right, John. Thanks again! We had fun this past weekend, watching the toddler watch the video. He had just come back from an airline trip to Denver and back--seemed rapt to see himself in the video and also to see the views from the air. He said "Gamma Gampa AAAAirpane!" several times, but wasn't quite up to discussing the subtle differences between Embraer and Searey.

    “Oil’s not in the green.”
“Meh, that’s alright”. (I know your pain)
Love it-great co pilot and video!

Looks like you need my patented, expertly engineered tailwheel shock-absorber mod for rough fields like that Don, even if you don't have a solid tailwheel.

For my long crosscountry flight (late '70's), my flight instructor had me fly to an airport in Vermont (from Maine). He picked that airport because it had a very narrow paved runway, narrower than this one. (Without my old logbook in front of me, I can't remember what airport it was). I'm guessing it's been widened by now. He wanted me to experience the illusion effect that you mention here.

Finally dug out my old logbook. 29 Oct 1982 (I was off on the year), Warren-Sugarbush airport, VT. Runway 4/22, Dimensions: 2575 x 30 ft. So it hasn't been widened.      Attachments:

That airport has a bad rep, Mark. It's not only narrow, but has a hump at about the midpoint. And the crackseal is worn, especially on the taxiway. The FAA says the pavement is in "Poor condition."

I had landed on narrow runways before, so this one wasn't too daunting--although I was surprised to find the throttle completely closed on final and wondered if I'd have to slip it in. As it turned out, it needed a little power on short final.

I landed a 172 on a 20 foot wide runway once. It looked scary at first, but then I flew around the pattern at about 400 feet, and the illusion wasn't too alarming. It's a tame 50-footer now, though.

I wonder at what point someone says, let’s resurface this thing. Can’t imagine how many man hours
all this took, almost 7k feet
worth.

And I've never seen that sealant last very long. The cracks just continue spreading.
