I have neighbors who could not imagine mixing oil and gas themselves. Then again, they would probably kill themselves
with a weed whacker if they could get it started.

They would probably buy ready-mixed 50/50 antifreeze, too--if they ever bought antifreeze instead of paying the dealer to do everything (or nothing at all).

When Carol and I were riding around Europe on a two-stroker, the gas stations all had mixing pumps with one hose and a gas/oil ratio selector switch, like the pumps now that let you select the octane grade. So you'd wheel up to the pump, select 2%, or whatever, and pump the mixture straight into the tank. Never got oily fingers or stains on your pants.

Should do it in Asia. Buy gas/oil in glass bottles from stalls by the roadside.

That doesn't sound too bad, here in Australia we are paying a $1.49 per litre which equates to $6.70 a gallon. Avgas is around $2.10
litre $9.45 a gallon 1 Australian Dollar equals 0.78 US Dollar. What is the average price of your standard gas in the US?

Regular grade 87 octane gas is $2.279 a gallon near Richmond, Virginia, this evening. If prices are the same tomorrow, I'll top off my Searey's tank with Premium grade 92 octane for $2.779 a gallon in the morning. All car gas here is 10% ethanol.

I just paid 3.299 a gallon for 50 gallons of 93 non ethanol.

Interesting Don, we have 4 choices at the pump 91, 95, 98 and a 91 with 10% ethanol, normally run the Searey on 98.. at the
moment it is $1.73 per litre. Might think about changing to the 95 as it is 10c litre cheaper.

    David,
here in NSW we have a Govt app "Fuel Check" to give the latest prices in the state.
You probably have the same thing in QLD. Today i got for the car 91 Oct for $1.26 and i think 98 for about $1.48. Keep looking
around and you will find good deals.

Thanks Jim, I have a great app called fuel map Australia gives you a reasonably good update on fuel prices. What's really annoying,
and I have never understand how it can happen. Last time I filled up just over a week ago it was a $1.199 cents a litre for 91, today
it is $1.499 per litre, .30c increase. That's like a $1.35 gallon for our US mates. Somebody must be making a lot of money, or losing a
lot of money and I don't think it's the latter.

David, I wonder if your octane ratings are the same as in the US and Canada. We have 87, 89, and something close to 92, usually called "premium" or something similar. (I've seen 91, 92, and 93 in various places in the past few years.) In the US, the 92-ish gas apparently works fine in 912S and 914 Rotaxes. 87 is supposed to be okay for the 80 hp 912. I think Rotax says our "91" is the minimum for the 912S and 914. I've only flown in Canada a few times, but think the octane ratings are the same there. Rotax has a webpage somewhere that discusses octane designations in various countries, but I can't turn it up just now.

    Thanks to Wikipedia,

Difference between RON, MON, and AKI
Because of the 8 to 12 octane number difference between RON and MON noted above, the AKI shown in Canada and the United
States is 4 to 6 octane numbers lower than elsewhere in the world for the same fuel. This difference between RON and MON is known
as the fuel's Sensitivity,[5] and is not typically published for those countries that use the Anti-Knock Index labelling system.

(That's just to keep us on our toes)
