Dale Hadley, 82, of Anacortes passed away on December 8, 2017 in Seattle. He was born in Boise, ID to LaMar and Pearl (Bird) Hadley, and had 2 brothers, Hugh and Max. They moved to Pocatello, ID, where Dale worked at Union Pacific Railroad yards as a teenager. In high school, he met the love of his life, Jody May Vincent and they were married in January 1953. Dale worked at Garrett Freight as a diesel mechanic.
They moved to Seattle, WA shortly after their daughter Marla was born. Dale was schooled as an engineer and worked for Boeing. He decided to move his family to Los Angeles, CA to pursue a career as a motorcycle cop, that not being his dream job, Dale then moved back to Pocatello where his son, Russ Hadley was born. He worked at docks for Union Pacific Railroad, and also for the State of Utah in the tax department.
Dale then worked for Union Pacific when it merged with Upland Industries as a Chief Clerk. Moving to Salt Lake City, UT, he was the Manager of Industrial Land Development, for the Western Division over the Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Montana area. Dale was partners in a motorcycle business where he also built basket motorcycles with his amazing talents and gifts. He built a Higgins boat and named it the Jody May after his beautiful wife. With a racing speed boat hull, he put in a racing engine from a car and we had the fastest boat anywhere at that time. Dale was transferred to Omaha, NE, then back to Boise, still working for Upland Industries.
He retired early, he and Jody traveled around in their motor home, lost in America, for one year. He has flown many air miles in his magnificent flying machines he loved. He had many, different, and fast Porsche 911 and 356’s. In 1991, Dale and Jody landed in Anacortes, WA, when Jody noticed a view of Mt Baker and the Puget Sound where they built their own dream home. He worked at Techno, as an electrician, to rewire their plant.
They were able to travel around the world, and their last trips included Australia, New Zealand, the Panama Canal and Hawaii. Along with his mechanical genius, courage, strength, compassion, Dale had a unbridled passion for learning and knowledge. He was a member of Experimental Aircraft Association Rotary Club, Quiet Birdman Association.
Dale is survived by Jody Hadley, his wife of 65 years; son, Russ (Brenda) Hadley, daughter Marla (Mike) Duggins; grandchildren, Kristina Duggins, Mike Sellers, and great grandchildren Ema Sellers and Joanna Sellers. You will be missed, you brought so much light into our world.
A memorial service for Dale will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory Inc., Anacortes and the San Juan Islands. To share memories of Dale, please sign the online guest register at www.evanschapel.com

Well said, Ken. I think his son, Russ Hadley, is an STS member.
