An age old debate but...I have an opportunity to purchase an LSA on floats for a good price. I have always figured I would get a SeaRey once I found somewhere to hangar it but I went and saw this Aeroprakt A22LSA on floats and it is a very nice plane. Any practical advantages of float plane over boat hull other than docking? I suppose if I ever wanted to move up to a larger floatplane, ie 206, the float experience would help with insurance down the road? Efficiency should be comparable as it is a Rotax 912. Still hoping to get a hangar in the near future as I hate to leave it on an outside tie down for very long. Any opinions either way are appreciated.      Attachments:

Hey Dan, I just messaged you on the Jeff/partnership thread, as I mentioned there, I'm in Estero, looking for a possible
partnership in a 914 Searey, maybe something else... let me know if you're interested!

Hi Mike, I am definitely open to options. I have been told a hangar may open up soon at Naples as well. I am out of town until the 16th. Perhaps we can talk when I get back? Thanks!!

If you're back in town, email me at mike@jamwalters.com, or call me at 630-878-4213. The wife and I got a demo this past week of
the Super Petrel LS at their sales office in Ormond Beach. Beautiful airplane!

Hi Daniel.....you lucky bugger !! What a dilemma.....own a great float plane or a great hull plane.
Although I no longer own a SeaRey, I still get some hands on with C-180's on floats and a C-185 on amphips.
I loved my 'A' hull SR and truly loved the hull. It ( The A Hull ) had it's limits and I found myself unable to fly
on days which would have been OK for floats. The new SRs can handle much heavier water now, but I would
certainly ask someone who has recent currency on both types for advice. .....and fly both yourself.
To answer you question re docking, the float plane wins hands down.....both for mooring and getting out of
the a/c.
I suggest that you open a spread sheet and compare basic cost.....est. mtce cost.....ins. cost....and then
a personal sheet for enjoyment. It would appear that your carrying capacity is going to be pretty nice in
the A-22......that would be enough for me......
Good luck, and please let us all know what you decide.
PS....I'll take your cast off.
Cheers...Dave
