Hey guys, thanks for letting me in.

I've read up, but I don't see a general forum like many groups have for general discussions.

Where is the best place to post general questions? I'd like to ask about if owners still find insurance through the same companies as discussed back in 2010, or if there are newer alternatives.
A friend has purchased a used LSX and would like to look at options. (He is high time and amphib rated, but not in the Searey yet)

Thanks,
Peter

edit : I think I am posting this to the "insurance" category, but I apologize if not.

Welcome, Peter! Truly general questions are fine here, but this site is mainly for the fun aspects of Searey and seaplane flying. For technical stuff we have STS, the Searey Technical Site, for Searey builders and owners only. Your friend can join STS by clicking on Help, near the upper right corner of the page.

However, if you have questions about Seareys that you can't find answers to on the factory's website (searey.com) you're welcome to ask them here and someone will probably email you directly.

As for insurance, in the past year or two several new underwriters have begun insuring Seareys. I don't know much about them, but maybe somebody else here does and will post a better answer to your question.

Peter. I use Falcon thru USAA. Never had the opportunity to make a claim, but they take premiums easily enough.

A number of us use Denise Porter

They seem to like high time experienced pilot.beware that seaplane insurance is higher than your average general aviation
insurance. We tend to have higher rate of accidents.
