Not sure if I should post this here on the STS......I have my Sport Pilot license and would now like to work towards my Private Pilots License. Does anyone know if I can use my Searey with a properly certified CFI to get my additional training?

When working toward my SEL, I did my cross long and short cross country flights in my single place Aventura HP. My CFI checked with the local FSDO before approving and they said if it was an airplane with a stick and rudder it would be OK. Of course, I was renting a C152 for all dual and for the check ride. I don't recommend doing cross countries in a 55mph plane since it was t the most bored I have ever been while flying, but it worked. You probably want to check with your instructor that is going to sign it off before doing it.

You can use an LSA for satisfying requirements for a private pilot certificate. There may be things that you cannot do in your
Searey. An example would be night flying... you couldn't do that if your Searey is not certified for night flight. Congratulations
on pursuing the Private, it should be a fairly straight-forward additional rating.

Most Designated Pilot Examiners will not give a check ride in an experimental aircraft. If that is your plan, you should see if you can
find a willing local DPE first.
