Either that's a false-color image, Robert, or else there's a lot of strange stuff growing in that state forest!

You might be right, Don. The Withlacoochee Army Airfield was used during World War II for the testing of chemical warfare materials (now popularly known as 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' or 'Weapons of Mass Delusion' depending on who you ask). Several attempts have been made to clean up the traces remaining. I don't know if the state fish hatchery people studied this history before plunking their ponds on the old site. I wouldn't want to eat any of the fish hatched there, eh?

Don,
I am sure it is a thermal image, hence the different colors for different plants.

Dan,

Is it really a hatchery or are you just being Dan?

'A prophet is without honor save in his own country.' Now if only I could figure out what country that might be....meanwhile, Robert, check it out: the Richloam Fish Hatchery (soon to be the new Florida Bass Conservation Center) even has a web site: www.floridafisheries.com/offices/richloam.html and here's a quote from their site: 'Blessed with good water and soils, Richloam ranks among the most productive fish hatcheries of its size in the United States. It is Florida's principle supplier of hatchery produced fishes to public waters throughout the state.' Makes you wonder if they've ever really checked the soil or water for WMD residues. Maybe a little arsenic makes the fish taste better?
