Description: For the 2nd year in a row, they are taking fabricated pipe line to Toronto for the Lake Ontario water cooling project. Each tow is about 1/4 mile long and moves very slowly. This was taken last summer on a very windy evening. Turtle Cove is the indent at 1 o'clock from the lead tug. Usually protected from the s/w winds and waves, but subject to ' rotar ' activity off the escarpment.

Sounds suspicious to me, Dave. As I recall Toronto's water is quite COLD already.

Ah, you folks are spoiled south of the 49th. They are replacing the old steel pipes with this plastic stuff. The 'legs' extend out about 1/2 mile into the lake and are sunk to a 100' depth. The water is then pumped in...or sucked in...whatever Marilyn Chambers did...and used to cool a large number of downtown office buildings. If you remember my heating system Dan, it is quite similar to my 1800' of pipe buried in the ground and filled with h2o/methanol circulating thru the system at 9 gph.
