Glad to see you are having fun Don.

I'm looking to fly to New London (W90) to get my annual sign off this weekend. Will have to 'trudge' though 1/2 mle of thin ice to get to the main part of Claytor Lake which is clear of ice for take off.

Would be an especially bad time to swamt the plane eh?

Better wear your foam rubber underwear, Jeff!

Dan, the picture above is about as boring as they come--but I just couldn't see one more Florida Foney Flying Foto without protest. It's snowing again here today.

Don,

How much ice did you pick up on the airframe after landing?

I was afraid to land on a river thinking I wouldn't be able to get out.

Gene - 05G

None, Gene, the air was well above freezing, and there was no ice where I landed. (I made VERY sure of that on an earlier pass.)

But I wouldn't be inclined to alight in water if the air was below freezing on the way back to the airport. The gear might not want to go down. (To prevent that, I suppose it would be smart to cycle the gear several times right after takeoff from the water.)
