Description: HEY Ya'll watch this! Thursday March 10 (that's tommorow) NASA is gonna launch the largest Atlas V rocket ever made at 4:42pm eastern time. Linda, Mike and I are gonna take it in from the famous 'Jetty Park' just north of Cape Canaveral. Should be one heck of a show, can't wait! Anybody that wants to join in is welcome. We'll be there for a good chunk of the afternoon. PS: don't bring your Searey if you ever want to see it again. This is the mother of all TFR's. Here are some links to get there. http://www.spaceflightnow.com/ and http://spaceyideas.com/launchfaq.html

And what might the payload be? Might it glow in the dark without batteries?

whoops your right Charlie, it's March 10th. Yeah I heard Jon Ladd say when an Atlas takes off you can feel the ground shake.

Ken... yep yep... it's a huge satellite that's intended for world wide wireless high speed internet. very cool. We can now do spash-n-dash real time from the cockpit.

Darrell, I've got my doubts about 'high speed' via sat, but I just bought a bluetooth & wireless lan enabled palm PC for my cabin & car moving map. The software also has a 'check gear' warning when I get within a pre-set distance to the ground. I can also get satelite weather overlayed on the moving map. I don't plan to buy the weather upgrade or EFIS for a while though. Total weight of this gillhooly is under 1 lb! (weather adds another 2 lbs, EFIS adds less than 1lb)

Gads, I can remember the old days when the nose cone diameter was smaller than the rocket's. Guess I'm getting old.

Thats very similar bird to what I am operating off of right now. My internet speed is a smidge faster than 56K dailup.
