Judy,

It was a Clear day for the launch, but they must have been close to their wind threshold. We were North bound in the Gulf Stream about 73 nm SE of the Cape when I just happen to look out my port hole and see the Atlas V fully engaged in it’s battle against gravity. I did not have time to grab the camera but I did watch it with the binoculars.
I watched the launch from Spruce Creek about 35 miles north of the Cape. Using 7X50 binoculars, I was able to watch the flight well past the shedding of the solid rocket boosters which I saw fall away. Great visibility. I'm looking forward to the resumption of the shuttle flights soon.
