Description: Well it's now official. Shelburne got the biggest dump, 36 cm (about 15 inches.) There was certainly more than that at our field. Doug got his truck 'buried' and it took a lot of digging and the little dozer to get him out. We never did get the truck to the hangar. But the walk in from the road was good exercise!

The photos sort of illustrate our problem. Doug tried moving the snow but there is so much and so heavy that it would have taken a couple of days. The ground under the wet snow is becoming quite mushy so removing the snow would not have helped. Doug decided to try packing it with the dozer and hoping for enough of a freeze tonight that we can get the birds out to hard surface Brampton at dawn. Otherwise the trip south by SeaRey is scuppered..

Photos clockwise from upper left:
The taxiway from our hangar with the piles of snow were we first tried removing it. In this photo and the next you can see how the little dozer is packing the top 6-8 inches. Nice photo of Doug and Snuggles..
Last photo is the packed 20' x 1000' surface that hopefully will be hard enough for our SeaReys early tomorrow morning!

Thanks, Frank N. Last night on the phone, John said they'd been unable to get in touch with customs at Erie, where they planned to enter the US. (He was somewhat piqued at the US of A just then.) But he must have woken them up this morning. The headwind doesn't look too bad, so I'm expecting them in Richmond this afternoon.

    All,
John and I hooked up with Don Maxwell yesterday and today we left Chesterfield County planning to visit FFI (First Flight) then proceed onto KLBT (Lumberton, NC).
About 30 minutes after leaving KFCI we realized we had no chance of making KLBT before the weather deteriorated if we went to KFFI. The head winds were too strong. We diverted and proceeded directly to KLBT arriving 4 hours after leaving KFCI. We beat a heavy thunderstorm by about 15 min. Tomorrow we plan to press on, and may or may not make X61. If we make it we would need a means to get to International Dr. tomorrow evening where we will be staying. If anyone is hanging around X61 later tomorrow afternoon and is heading into town we would like to bum a ride or are open to suggestions. I would be happy to rent a car if it is at all possible from the vacinity of X61. A message could be left on my cel, 519-939-3801.

You guys are having way too much fun! Can't wait to join you. Meanwhile, here I sit with a finished bird waiting for TC to do their thing.

Doug and John: Hope you have a great trip and even better weather down yonder. It's promising to be an amazing weekend up here so I'm going to the airport, sit in my cockpit and make airplane sounds while occasionally saying 'check gear position'.
