Frank N, if I understand right, you're asking someone to give these fm designers a flight in a Searey to get the feel. I would suggest that it would take much more than one flight to do this.

Then once they get the 'core' fm in, then they need to find a Searey pilot with lots of experience and time, who is also into MSFS, to help them tweak and tweak and tweak the fm. This is going to take some time to get it right.

You really need to give this to someone familiar with MSFS, as well as the Searey. Someone at PA should be able to help you, I'd think.

If the fm is done right, this should be an excellent training tool, especially for things such as crosswind landing practice, which has been discussed recently on another thread. Hopefully the water handling can be made realistic too.

Will the canopies slide open and closed? (Before anyone laughs at that, many MSFS models have that feature).

I'm really excited to see this; I've been waiting and asking for a Searey for MSFS for a looong time. Many thanks to everyone involved with this.

Nice looking panel, Frank N.--but it isn't a SeaRey panel, not unless the Rotax has been swapped for a Continental. Rotaxes don't have mixture controls.

The instruments don't resemble those supplied with a SeaRey kit, either. You might want to send them a photo of a basic VFR SeaRey panel so they know what's what. Move the throttle to the center console. Placard the gear switch. And give it electric trim.

Don, it is my guess that they grabbed some generic gauges to get things going with this. I don't believe there are any Rotax gauges in MSFS yet. I downloaded a Russian sport plane amphibian that supposedly has a Rotax 912, and it also has these same gauges you see above. Hopefully someone can make some Rotax gauges.

Nice panel for first draft!
Tach needs a Rotax range.
Perhaps the throttle could be changed to show the top of the standard SeaRey throttle? Don't need the mixture..

Are you going to try and get a sound package for the Rotax Engine?

Sim model looks great. Frank N. make sure to post how to get this once it is finished. For new Searey builders/flyers like myself, it would be great to have if the feel in flight is right. Although it is no substitute for the real thing, it's far, far better than nothing. Keep up the good work!!

Uncanny, just got a email from him today,

Hi Frank,

I just got an e-mail from the gentleman who is working on the flight model of the Searey that he was able to make some progress and that all he's got left to do is to put the gauges into the 3-d cockpit. And he wants us to stay tuned.

Say hi to the fans,
Norm
