Yikes!!! And it isn't going into the fall yet, either. Drink lots of?

Fascinating photo, Ken. How hard and bleak it looks! (And I know that places like this almost always look softer and more comfortable in photographs than they feel when you're actually there.)
How come the second guy from the right has longer armor than the others?<!-- >'">
' or > missing in user HTML. Ken - Looks like the AF gets all the good tanning spots. Maybe it will be a bit cooler when I get there in Sept.

Summer is just arriving. Temps to 120 every day are expected. We all get the 'cod piece' to snap on our armor, most choose freedom of movement. Besides, I've got all the kids I want anyway. We've been shelled every day since I got here. To give you an idea of how much dust is in the air, if you open up the CD drive on any PC here, you will find it covered with a layer of red dust. Kind of hard on the PCs. Everything is covered with crud. We've got a jackal that keeps us company and have killed several camel spiders and sand vipers within 50' of our maintenance hooch. But then again, I just had lobster & crab legs for dinner. The contrasts continue. P.S.- This may very well be the busiest runway in the world and the stuff they do on short final makes rolling a searey sound tame. Question: What's an F-16 do? Answer - turns jet fuel into noise.

Thanks for the support. I think the VFW will be getting a fresh generation of folks. Gotta get back to the flightline... I'm working 7 on, 5 off, 7 on, 5 off 7 days a week. Like I've got something better to do? It lets me spend time with both shifts - these people make me proud.
