Description: Thought you all would like to see a new amphibian design that is being developed in Australia by Cobra Aircraft. http://www.tomair.com.au/
It is off all composite construction and can be built either as a 3 or 4 place aircraft. No more info is available yet but looks to
be of similar layout to the Searey. Does this look like a winning design ?

Dont think they intend to power it with a Rotax. Maybe as a two seater but it has the option of 4 place so would need some big power to get off the water.

Wow! I really do like that future of retractable wing floats but would think if it electric, would really add some weight to it. The want it to meet the Australia Ultralight rule (like the searey can) so time will tell. Keep in mind that Florida climate is very similar to anything north of Sydney and our last plane, a CT4 (ex airforce training) was awful in the heat due to sitting in a green house for hours so I know where your coming from. Frank, What is the final LSA rule with repositionable gear for amphibians ?

Frank, its about time the states joined the rest of the world to provide a sports category. From my understanding, you only have Part 103 (ultralight) or full GA. In Oz we have ultralight category which the searey just fits into. I would prefer to fly our searey in this category but it limits flying into controlled airspace (which we do alot) and a few other limitations too. Means getting more hours under instruction (for me) which I will have to do soon before I can get Rob to train me for water opps. Off to fly the searey for the first time this Sunday so can't wait!
