Description: Lightening had woken me up @03:10.Today was supposed to be the day John and Doug and I were to fly to an airport just east of Montreal for a 'retired Airline pilot' monthly lunch. The forecast was the pitts but at 8:30 the sun broke through...the clouds and tstms moved a bit east, so I launched to get some photos. At 800' off the water, I had a 40 mph wind out of the west and rough! Took 4 pictures and as the squall at the top right was getting pretty close , headed back to the cove...middle right.
Tried to touch down between two patches of rotors but had to go-around. Second attempt worked out. Just about got VMU into the hangar before all hell broke loose. Winds gusting to 50 and very heavy rain. It lasted till 10:30. Would not have been a good flight to Montreal, John & Doug.
