Obviously Photoshop! Unless that carrier was at least 9,000 feet long, the Air Force would not get close to it.

Ahem, that aircraft lands in 2800 feet. I know because I've been aboard when they've done it. On the other hand, only C-130s (plus Billy Mitchell's boys) have taken 'real' airplanes off carriers! If this were a real picture, it would probably be him on landing right before the 'oh sh*t!'

I was cargo in an empty C-17 a couple weeks ago.
The Air Force Boys like to punish their Marine Brethren with high G launches when leaving their Bases in Iraq.
I beleive that those boys could have made your Photoshop pic a reality.

Stan, while I won't deny inter-service teasing, I would argue that they take off like bat's out of hell because they are scared of getting shot down. I can't go into details, but the threat is very real. 'Altitude is life' is a true statement around here when taking off.

You should see some of the landing the heavies are making. The C-5 crews are yanking and banking while low and slow and are probably more a danger to themselves than the enemy is. I've never seen a C-5 in an 60 degree plus bank before, much less at 1000'...and I don't want to see it again. We've changed some brakes and tires here that were due to high, hot, heavy and sideways landings.
