RL - We've got sniper rifles that use this round - the M107. The rifle is almost too heavy for me to pick up but has an effective range out to 2000 meters at 4000fps. (like that? meters and fps in the same breath) I've seen a video of the shots in Afganistan and they are both incredible and grusom for two reasons - how far away you can 'reach out and touch someone' and what this round does when it hits someone. The longest confirmed kill with a .50 cal just went up to 2430 meters - by a Canadian sniper team. That's a 1.3 miles.
