Description:
The Daves had recommended a pass around Boldt Castle. Even with pretty good GPS coordinates it took me quite a while to find the place. Impressive!
Then I flew a couple of miles north to Maxson Airfield, 89N, where Roxanne, the US Customs Lady was to meet me. I'd originally planned to enter the US at Watertown, an official airport of entry, but on the phone she had talked me into entering at Maxson, instead. Why? Because then she had to drive only about 5 miles, instead of 40. She turned out to be a retired schoolteacher and a charming talker. I don't even remember what documents she wanted to see--maybe my certificate... I had been a bit anxious about US Customs, having never ever seen one of those agents smile, ever. But Roxanne was all smiles and pleasantry. (She did say, however, that she knew how to be tough if it was required.)
