Description:
This was the airplane I got my Seaplane rating in last week. It has what felt like over twice the drag a Searey has. As soon has the power comes back, you'd had better be near your intended landing spot with the nose pointing down. I got a lot of actual glassy water practice on this day. The day before it was gusty 15 knot winds, so I had a good mix of conditions. Lots of fun, but I couldn't wait to get back into my Searey for the hour and 12 min. ride home.

Steve, I got my seaplane rating at Jack Brown's in Lakeland Fla. last year. Quite an expirience. I reccomend it. It was a great. Those CUBS can feel like kites, lots of drag and noise.

Good for you Steve...and what a mix of conditions. What was it like getting back into your SR after flying the cub?

Dave, it was a big difference, the Cub is a great little plane, however as Ed says, lots of drag (when on floats) and noise. Visibilty isn't nearly as good as the Searey. In favor of the Cub was docking for obvious reasons. After a couple of days in the Cub it felt really good to get back in the SR for the flight home and I couldn't resist splashing in 4 different lakes on the way back.
