Compared to the SeaRey, a Lake has a heck of a big chunk of engine way up there<br />above the mid-wing doesn't it! No wonder the nose really goes down when you give it full throttle.

... and when the engine suddenly stops, the nose goes way up! A couple of these planes have stalled during climb-out here. Not pretty.

The Lake is definately a plane to not get complacent with. Steve (and his wife Robin) were required by the insurance company, among other things, to have 300 plus hours total time, a complex rating, a seaplane rating and then go through a 20 hr Lake training course. Every year they are required to get 3 hours of dual recurrency training in the Lake.

Got about 85 hrs in a Sea Rey and about 200 hrs in a Lake. The Lake is an easy plane to fly if you know what to expect. It may need a little bigger pond then the Sea Rey but it has a lot less weird habits. I'm a plane flying slut anyway I'll find something to like about anything I can fly.
