Description: My son's 3 year old preschool class gave Streaker a good going through. The parents gave me a strange look when I said, 'make sure the kids walk around and TOUCH the different parts of the plane. Its made of many different materials. Let them be curious and let them explore...' I supervised carefully and made sure they stayed safe and didn't damage anything. Its all good. I've never seen a happier airplane than one that has kids crawling all over it. Future pilots, all of them. Some just in dreams, many in reality I'm sure... can you imagine the state of general aviation which is barely 100 years old now, when these kids are 50? How about when they are 80???

In all, 25 three year olds and 12 parents got to get behind the stick. The looks in their faces when they put the headset on and beamed over the instrument panel... well, its easier to show you than describe it to you. We all had a great morning there at the airport.

It looks like Capt. Elyssa may have left something for you in the seat, Bret. This is my new favorite SeaRey photo!

I'll check on that Dan... nothing a hose and bilge pump can't handle I'm sure.

Terry, I think some have. I have not... yet. My local EAA chapter had an active Young Eagles program that I wanted to participate in but I haven't as of yet felt ready. The plane is... its the pilot. This Eagles program had lots of Cessna pilot's and I didn't want to sign-up and then get out there and not like the cross-wind or something else that day have to deal with a pressure decision. I will when I'm ready. I do give friend's and friends kids rides when they ask but in those situations I am 100 percent in charge of chosing the day and the flight and thats the only way right now that I feel comfortable about it. I even have a Water Wings certificate that I give first time SeaRey flyers. I have found that adults like the certificate as much as the kids.

Here's a post where my buddy Nick got one:

Bret, my hat's off to you for doing this. You understand well that kids learn about their world more by touching than seeing. They need to touch. It's in their nature. Parents who yell DON'T TOUCH to their kids don't understand this.

I must admit that I kept a nervous eye on the kids that walked around my plane at the Greenville seaplane fly-in this summer, but I was actually more concerned about some of the adults.

We also have an active Young Eagles program here, but with my single-seater, I can't fly any....I've helped on the ground instead.

You are an inspiration Brett, those kids will never forget that experience.
