Robert thats an awesome shot. Your ship goes EVERYWHERE! DANG! So it has ice-breaking capabilities? What was the reason for the chopper rendezvous?

Dan,
This trip has been fun so far but the mission is still a long ways from over. I just wish all my voyages were this interesting.

Bret,
The hull is Ice Class “C”, it does not have full breaking capability. It is what we call Ice strengthened, not Ice breaking. The rendezvous was actually a return trip. I had ridden the Russian Icebreaker through the thick and rough portion of the Ice channel that had been cut through the fast ice. We were formulating opinions of who should get stuck first. It’s a bad ice year here and the Icebreaker has wounded her Stb prop. We have been waiting in this spot for almost a week while the Icebreaker works the channel in her wounded condition.

Dave,
The temps are not bad. It is about 34-38f during the brightest part of the day. Our parking spot has been like an Antarctic zoo. We have gotten many pictures and video of penguins, seals, Minki Whales and Killer whales. It has been very interesting.
