Description: One more picture of the Thurston TA-16 Trojan/Seafire. Does anyone know what happened to this design? Did it go under with Lake? Apparently there are a couple of these existing as homebuilts, in fact 'Amphibians Plus' in FL has one. Look, Frank, it even has a sliding canopy.
p.s. I finally ordered my Searey kit!! One more SR for the Pacific NW.

Yes, I can't wait to get into the worlds of both aircraft construction and water flying. I actually looked into those books by Mr. Thurston, and I think I will probably end up reading them eventually. One of the great things about this site is you get a lot of ideas and experience that is sometimes hard to find. I spent alot of time researching different light amphibs and the Searey came out (mostly) far ahead, thanks to alot of information gained on this site.

I have been thinking of a name and the difficult N-number. I may have to save the 'Sea Lynx' idea for when I design my own amphib....

One of these airplanes used to sit at Amphibians Plus in Deland, Florida, Lynx, but it has long since departed. Naturally I contacted the owner and was told he was putting together a deal for the airplane to be built in Russia. I lost interest when I found out the final approach speed was 90 mph.

Congratulations, Lynx, on your selection of the SeaRey. I don't think you'll find a finer recreational amphibian or a finer place to fly than the NW. Good on ya.
