It's black and white: pelecanus erythrorhynchos, the 'white' pelican. It has a wing span of more than 9'. It fishes by floating and scooping up swimming fish. They can cooperatively herd fish in small groups. Wintering in Florida, they head north to interior lakes of western Canada and the great NW of the U.S. They typically go north in April, but as warm as it has been lately they may get an early start.
