Description:
Wilderness has wilted under the relentless assault of encroaching concrete and Borg-like aliens. Do not count out wilderness yet, though. A few more seasons of drought and hurricane will have them retreating to less wild environments. (I hope).

If every house has a pool, then why is there an extra one by the tennis courts? Probably for the servants.

    To rinse after playing tennis.

The problem in this photo is that everyone has the exact same pool, in fact the exact same house as well. Imagine if all Searey's came in the same color with the same options, what fun would that be? These people must live in the 'imagination-free zone' of Florida. These are the same people who walk around Florida spouting 'That's not the way we do it back home.' Then how about you go back 'home'.

P.S. If 'the human brain weighs 8 lbs!' then Dan Nickens must be the exception. With all of this new Florida information, I would believe that Dan's brain has been certified at around 1370 lbs. He's got more memory than my Mac.

This American Dream comes with pool but no place to build a SeaRey. That would be the only reason to go back North.

There is a great old folk song that must have been written about this place.

'Little Boxes' by Malvina Reynolds

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky-tacky,
Little boxes, little boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses
All go to the university,
And they all get put in boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
And there's doctors and there's lawyers
And business executives,
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf-course,
And drink their Martini dry,
And they all have pretty children,
And the children go to school.
And the children go to summer camp
And then to the university,
And they all get put in boxes
And they all come out the same.

And the boys go into business,
And marry, and raise a family,
And they all get put in boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.
Dan, here's another one she wrote that seems relevant here:

There's a Bottom Below
by Malvina Reynolds

Chorus:
Do you think you've hit bottom?
Do you think you've hit bottom?
Oh, no.
There's a bottom below.

There's a low below the low you know.
You can't imagine how far you can go down.
[She sings it '...how far you can go. DOWN !!!']

(Chorus)

Every once in a while you'll rise and glow,
But that's only so they can let you go down.

(Chorus)

You sit at a party and watch the fun,
It don't touch you none cause you're off and gone, down.

(Chorus)

There's the nightmare kind where you fall and fall,
And you wake to find you haven't been dreaming at all.

(Chorus)

There's a low below the low you know.
You can't imagine how far you can go down.

(Chorus)

It sounds like Malvina was the depressed cousin of Dr. Suess!
