Did someone say Gator Joe's?
Piffle! Who needs Gator Joe's when there's Dockside right here on the James just east of Hopewell.
I was riding over the river with my friend Matt in his Aventura II late this morning, looking at all the flotsam flushed down by the recent heavy rains, when we noticed a parking lot and a building that looked like it might be a restaurant. We both had flown over that area many times and had never seen this place before, but this time we were at just the right angle to see it clearly.
We flew past to check it out. Sure enough, it was a restaurant. And there was a nice sandy beach alongside the parking lot. Matt put the Aventura down on the water and nosed it onto the beach. We tied it up and climbed up the bank.

That's nice, and you don't have to pay a boat ramp fee! I have to pay a launch fee everytime I go to my favorite river restaurant, but last weekend, I found a roadside hotdog stand that was accessible from the shore. Nice find Don!
